A spectacular audio and visual event marking the 100th anniversary of Puccini’s death, celebrating the special relationship between Puccini and The Metropolitan Opera.
Using a wealth of recordings and imagery from The Met’s own archives – together with period footage, news coverage and Puccini’s own home movies supplied by the Fondazione Giacomo Puccini – 59 created a 9-minute fantastical journey through history, narrated by Met historian Peter Clark. Using the full size of the Met’s huge proscenium, and incorporating projection-mapped visuals that transformed the interior of the auditorium, the film immersed a capacity audience on opening night as well as over 150,000 opera fans in cinemas around the world as part of the Met Live in HD series.
